Abstract

This study investigates the effects of artificial intelligence (AI) applications on cognitive, emotional, and social psychological processes in foreign language education. Employing a mixed-methods research design, the study combines quantitative measurements of cognitive load, language proficiency, anxiety, motivation, self-efficacy, and social interaction with qualitative interviews examining students' experiences with AI-supported tools. The research predicts that AI applications will reduce cognitive load, improve memory, increase motivation and self-efficacy, and enhance social interaction skills, while emphasising the need to balance AI use with human-mediated interaction. The findings aim to provide insights into optimising AI-supported language learning environments to improve both pedagogical and psychological outcomes.
